OUTSTANDING CONGRESSMAN AWARD 2021
Core Shelter Assistance Program is currently implemented
by DSWD to assist homeless families who have been
displaced by different kinds of calamities. It is the vision by
Representative Elizaldy S. Co, as member of the House of
Representatives to create a shelter that is strong and reliable
to withstand powerful typhoons and institutionalize the
program by way of strong legislation. Recipient of the 4P’s
program that live in vulnerability on the eastern seaboard
who frequently suffer from strong storms should be covered
by this program. Representative Co’s passion to help the
poorest of the poor is not only manifested by way of ideals
but with immediate action.
CONTRIBUTIONS AND ACTION DURING CALAmITIES
As a man of action Cong. Elizaldy S. Co, immediately provided
relief packs to Bicolano victims during the series of typhoon
calamities in Bicol region in coordination with non-government
organizations such as Sunwest Care Foundation Inc., deploying
earth moving heavy equipment in different parts of Bicol region
in order to open the roads that were blocked by large rocks,
sand and soil, trees and electric posts. In the province of Albay,
the municipalities of Sto. Domingo, Daraga and Guinobatan,
they were used the longest due to the aggregates from Mayon
Volcano. The organizational and networking skills of the good
Congressman was likewise showcased when he partnered with
other government offices and civic organizations. GI sheets,
lighting fixtures and sacs of rice were distributed to the typhoon
victims amidst the threats of COVID-19. He persists to contribute
by way of policies and direction for the National Government on
the strategies towards managing COVID-19. He has presented
a plan that the health protocols must be balanced with an
economic agenda. It is very important that every family must
have food on their table.
When COVID-19 hit the Philippines, he provided relief packs to
the stranded Bicolano workers in different parts of Metro Manila
and exerted efforts to transport them to different provinces of
Bicol region. It was clear to him that these workers should be
able to unite with their family due to the community quarantine.
He provided relief goods to Bicolano families not only in Metro
Manila but in peripheral provinces such as Rizal, Laguna and
Bulacan in order for his kababayans to survive this pandemic.
He provided food packs and personal protective equipment to
the front-liners, i.e. the PNP and the AFP who were manning the
check-points in order to implement the mandated quarantine
protocols by Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious
Diseases (IATF-EID). The medical front-liners were also given
the same attention by Cong. Elizaldy S. Co providing food
packs and personal protective equipment. He has donated to
hospitals in Bicol region together with medicines.
