When the Covid-induced community lockdowns were
imposed starting March 2020, Congresswoman Lolypop
gave assistance to cushion its impact to the most vulnerable
sectors. She shelved the planned party for her golden year
celebration and instead gave the money away to frontliners in
the fight to contain the virus.
Congresswoman Lolypop handed out P12.9M aid to 10,155
drivers. She distributed a total of P12,890,000 in financial
assistance to 10,155 drivers in Cebu’s 6th district. This is part
of the congresswoman’s project to provide cash assistance
to several sectors to help them recover after livelihoods were
affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In Mandaue City, 5,470 drivers of tricycle and habal-
habal (motorcycles-for-hire) received a total of P8.2 million.
The amount is sourced from Ouano-Dizon’s allocation for
Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS). A portion
of it also came from the budget of Senator Ramon Bong
Revilla, Jr. and Senator Bong Go. Almost P3 million were
given to 2,973 drivers of Consolacion. In Cordova, 1,712
drivers, including those using trisikad for their livelihood, also
received cash assistance totaling more than P1.7 million.
