With the same driving force, Along has set his sights geared
towards broadening his horizons as a leader. In 2016, he was
elected as the city’s first district representative. With this
new role, he fulfilled his promises to his constituents through
numerous projects focusing on infrastructure and education.

His legislative record also speaks volumes on the type of
leadership he exudes. With only two terms as a congressman,
he has authored a total of 226 bills, 34 of which passed
into law. This includes R.A. 11286, which increased the bed
capacity of Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital from 200
to 800 bed capacity. This has helped saved thousands of lives
during the pandemic when the said hospital was declared as
a COVID-19 referral center by the Department of Health.

To further provide adequate representation to his
constituents, he also authored R.A. 11545, which paved
way to the establishment of Caloocan’s third district. This
will help Northeast Caloocan to have a more focused voice
in the legislative branch, which in turn would result to more
projects and allocated funding towards the development of
the new district.

Cong. Along Malapitan has been serving the city for almost
15 years and has an impressive service record, from being
a Barangay Chairman then becoming the representative of
one of the country’s largest districts. A father, a husband,
a good leader—these are words that best describe Along
Malapitan’s roles and shape his aspirations.
