Most Outstanding Mayor Award 2019

Interestingly enough the origins of the word “Mayor” was
FOREWORD derived from the Latin word “maior”, meaning "bigger"). He or she is
the highest-ranking official in a municipal or city government directly
elected by the public, or selection by an elected governing council or
board. The French have derived it from “maire”, to mean greater. So
can we call our Mayors, the Great _ ers’?

Either way the responsibility of Philippines Mayors, be it for
5th class municipalities or the major Metro Manila Cities are one and
the same with their constituencies relying on them to improve their
economic standing if not establish their democratic freedoms.

This year we face another election where our Mayors are subjected
to the decisions of the people. There is evidently a need to remain
popular for an awareness the people require without necessarily having
measured performance, integrity even, and worst of all dynasty. It
takes a lot of effort to win the people other than having populist ideals
requiring a personal presence directly to the voters. Having to shake
hands, to kiss babies while sounding “cheesy” is most effective so the
populace can have a personal experience with its “Great_ er”. Imagine
having to reach out to hundreds of thousands for some if not tens of
thousands for municipalities.

To win a mandate from the people already sets the Mayors apart
to be better than the rest of us simply because they are chosen to lead us.

The Most Outstanding Mayor award simply put; is but a living
testament of our awardees.
