he or she must have so much passion, a strong

The political life story of Corazon Malanyaon tells a great deal
of lessons, among them is on how best to gain influence through
kindness. Be silent as to services you have rendered, but speak of
favors you have received. This is the mantra and a guiding principle
of a great-souled woman Corazon Nunez Malanyaon whose
powerful mind and strong will changed the political landscape
of Davao Oriental for the better. Her brand of graciousness that
reduces the heat of politics always brought the people together,
making her the most powerful political player in the resources-
rich sunshine province of Davao Oriental. Fondly called as
“Gov Cora”, Malanyaon assumed governorship in 2007 with a
very strong mandate and ran unopposed in the succeeding 2010
and 2013 elections, a mind-boggling scenario not ever seen in
the past political exercises of the province which was sometimes
marred by violence among the warring old-rich political clans
who think of politics as an all-or-nothing activity.
