Hon. Czarina “Cherry" Domingo-Umali
Governor of the Province of Nueva Ecija
Czarina “Cherry” Domingo-Umali has indelibly marked her place in Nueva Ecija’s
colorful political history as its first woman governor. Her resounding victory in the 2016
polls gave her a firm mandate to lead the province of Nueva Ecija to renewed heights
under her brand of responsible and compassionate public service that mirrors her good
heart and nurturing persona.
With “Tapat na Serbisyo at Malasakit sa Novo Ecijano” as her overarching agenda,
she immediately charted a new era of continuity, unity, and maturity in Nueva Ecija’s
social, political and economic narrative, striving to build on the dual legacy of peace
and progress that has been fueling the province’s recovery and positive change over
the last nine years.
Cherry was born on April 7, 1972 in San Juan, Metro Manila, where she
completed grade school and high school at Dominican College. Sha later took up a
degree in Commerce, Major in Accounting at the University of Santo Tomas where she
graduated in 1993.
She soon discovered a natural affinity with her husband’s constituents, when he
was elected Congressman of the 3rd District of Nueva Ecija; especially the women,
the children, and the poor. It did not take long for her to win their trust and for them
to realize that she is the best person to continue his remarkable work as a legislator
and a public servant.
