Outstanding Governorship Award 2017
LEAVING AN IMPRINT,
SUSTAINING A LEGACY
Governor Cherry’s centerpiece Malasakit Agenda is anchored on the
sustained improvement of the socio-economic programs and services of
the provincial government to make them more accessible and relevant
to the needs of the Novo Ecijanos. Upon assumption of office, she gave
orders to revisit the provincial plans and programs on infrastructure,
health, agriculture, education, social welfare, and livelihood to ensure their
responsiveness and consistency with identified priorities.
On social responsibility, the Governor conducted regular
consultations and extended advocacy and technical assistance to
sectoral federations and provincial committee/council, such as: the
Provincial Committee for Disability Affairs, the Municipal Social Welfare
and Development Officers, and the the Nueva Ecija Provincial Federation
of Day Care Workers, among others.
The governor has also taken a wholistic approach in crafting the
provincial agenda for women. The Nutrition and Home Management
Services was tasked in conducting Nutrition Mother Classes that
initially reached 626 mothers, including 409 lactating mothers, in 14
municipalities. Livelihood skills training such as meat processing, food
preservation, candy making, and soapmaking were also held attended by
175 mothers.
The GAD Focal Point System was institutionalized and strengthened
following the renewal and approval of the Executive Order 002 series of
2015. This paved the way for the holding of GAD seminar workshops for
different stakeholders as well multimedia public information campaign on
GAD concerns. Among the women-focused projects is the Tanglaw At Lakas
ng Kababaihan (TALA) ng Nueva Ecija that facilitates trainings, livelihood
programs, and civil rights awareness to women groups at the village level.
