OUTSTANDING CONGRESSMAN AWARD 2021
Hon. mArlYn Alonte-nAGuiAt
Representative of Biñan City, Lone District
From women empowerment to education and livelihood, this lady legislator from Laguna has always brought her A-game to the
job. As a result, she has a track record for always getting things done.
With various achievements under her belt, awards and accolades have been aplenty for this hardworking public servant. For one,
Marlyn “Len” Alonte-Naguiat was named one of The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) in 2014 for government and public service,
when she was on her last consecutive term as City Mayor of Biñan.
The woman leader is known to walk her talk, and makes good on her promise to improve the lives of every Biñanense. She
was instrumental in transforming her beloved hometown from a modest municipality to the bustling dynamic city and economic
powerhouse it is today. It was under her leadership—Len was the youngest head of the city and first and only female mayor—that
Biñan became a city and years later, a lone congressional district.
But Len, ever humble and unassuming, is not one to take all
the credits despite working hard and smart. She believes that
the most important recognition of her career in public service is
the continued vote of confidence from her people. Now on her
second term as their representative at the Congress, Len is busy
breaking barriers and changing people’s lives, whether it be from
her legislative work at the House or her projects on the ground
As Deputy Majority Leader in the 18th Congress, Len helps
manage and coordinate the flow of each session day’s agenda,
especially second and third reading of bills, including plenary
floor debates. She is also Vice Chairperson for the Committee
on Sustainable Development Goals.
