Mayor Medrano’s leadership in managing Sarrat’s COVID-19
response has gained recognition from the Provincial Government
as one of the most efficient and organized. When ECQ was
declared by President Duterte in March 2020, he foresaw that
the virus would inevitably reach the town any time soon. Mayor
Medrano ordered the construction of three Municipal Isolation
/ Quarantine Facilities with a total bed capacity of 35 persons,
complete with basic utilities and amenities. True to his foresight,
Sarrat was hit by the surge of virus in August. In what seemed
to be an uncontrollable outbreak, Mayor Medrano was at the
forefront of the situation. Immediately mobilizing the ACT FOR
SARRAT Covid Task Force, which he created four months in
advance, he defined their roles and motivated each team by
his presence and support. Returning residents, quarantined
individuals and Covid-19 active cases have enjoyed the
privilege of staying in these isolation facilities, free of charge.
Earning recognition from the provincial task force for managing
the Covid-19 cases in the town, Mayor Medrano and his team
are being regularly consulted and called for help even by
neighboring towns and cities in matters of community response
to mitigate the spread of the virus.
