Mayor of the Municipality of Macalelon, Province of Quezon
“Bawat Hakbang Pasulong sa Bayan ng Macalelon.”
Mayor Nelson Reyes Traje (NRT) was born in Macalelon, Quezon and the eldest among six children by the late Nestor and Elena. At an early
age of 12, his father died and he has to help his mother by selling weekly magazines. He graduated from Macalelon Central Elementary School
with honors and after graduation, his grandfather, the late Pio Lopez Traje—a strict disciplinarian who taught him invaluable life lessons and values
and supported his education until college. NRT is married to Jean Ann with children, Maria Cecilia, Omar Byron, Maria Felicia, and Pia Marie.
NRT has been in government service long enough before he joined the political arena. He never thought he would enter politics in his entire
life. NRT has worked in the Bureau of Internal Revenue as a Revenue District Officer in Metro Manila—NRT was a graduate of University of
the East- Manila; A Certified Public Accountant by profession with Master’s Degree in Business who has been a recipient of various awards
and commendations.
EDUCATION
Mayor NRT is visionary. He has a big dream for his community.
A champion for education projects, NRT believes that education
is an important tool which is very useful in everybody’s life. It is the
most significant tool in eliminating poverty and unemployment. With
education, we can prepare future leaders and innovators. An educated
person has a lot of job opportunities waiting for them on the other side
of the door. However, one must always ensure that education solely
does not ensure success. It is a doorway to success which requires
hard work and dedication.
NRT Administration has continued to give accommodation to every
child of school age in public schools in town. The MGO supported the
Brigada Eskwela efforts of the Department of Education and increased
budget allotment of the School Board to Php1,768,204 for the purchase
of school supplies and materials, including special education projects
which are funded annually. Through the NRT initiative, he had solicited
